Tis the Season

Speaker: Ty Neal
Date: December 08, 2013

It's that time of year again...the holidays. Although this is, and should be, a time of great joy and celebration, it's often a season that leaves us frustrated, in debt and depressed. Tis the season...for those yearly battles with our families. Tis the season...for overindulgence; leaving us feeling over weight, over spent and over committed. Tis the season...for discontentment. Where CAN we find joy in this holiday season? Join us for "Tis The Season".

November 17th - December 15th.

Genesis 37-50, Exodus 20:12, Psalm 27:10, 100, Ephesians 4:31-32 & 6:1-4

Psalm 100:1-5 ESV

Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing! Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.

Exodus 20:12 ESV

"Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.

Ephesians 6:1-4 ESV

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. "Honor your father and mother" (this is the first commandment with a promise), "that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land." Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

Genesis 37:1-4 ESV

Jacob lived in the land of his father's sojournings, in the land of Canaan. These are the generations of Jacob. Joseph, being seventeen years old, was pasturing the flock with his brothers. He was a boy with the sons of Bilhah and Zilpah, his father's wives. And Joseph brought a bad report of them to their father. Now Israel loved Joseph more than any other of his sons, because he was the son of his old age. And he made him a robe of many colors. But when his brothers saw that their father loved him more than all his brothers, they hated him and could not speak peacefully to him.

Ephesians 4:31-32 ESV

Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

Psalm 27:10 ESV

For my father and my mother have forsaken me, but the Lord will take me in.
