Just when you think you have life figured out, it happens - the unexpected. It's ironic how life has so much mystery that leaves us asking more questions than there are answers for. So we go to God. We try to figure Him out. We cross our t's and dot our i's expecting him to be controlled and domesticated. But God is not to be tamed like a circus lion. This blows us up. So what are we to do? Where are we to find meaning and lasting happiness when we don't have all the pat answers we so desperately desire? What do we do when life feels like a bunch of smoke and mirrors? Join us as we go through the enigma, wrapped up in a mystery, surrounded by a riddle within the Bible known as the book of Ecclesiastes.
Title -The Whole Duty of Man
Ecclesiastes 12:9-10 - 9Besides being wise, the Preacher also taught the people knowledge, weighing and studying and arranging many proverbs with great care. 10The Preacher sought to find words of delight, and uprightly he wrote words of truth.
Ecclesiastes 1:2 & 12:8 - 2Vanity of vanities, says the Preacher, vanity of vanities! All is vanity 8 Vanity of vanities, says the Preacher; all is vanity.
Ecclesiastes 12:11 -11 The words of the wise are like goads, and like nails firmly fixed are the collected sayings; they are given by one Shepherd.
John 10:14-14 I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me,
Colossians 2:2b-3,“[Christ] in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.”
Ecclesiastes 12:12-12 My son, beware of anything beyond these. Of making many books there is no end, and much study is a weariness of the flesh.
Ecclesiastes 12:13- 13The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.
Fear God — “an attitude of submission to, respect for, dependence on, and worship of the Lord”

Ecclesiastes 12:13 -13 The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.
Ecclesiastes 12:14 - 14 For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil.
BIG IDEA: In Jesus, we fear God without fear of judgment & our duty becomes our delight.
2 Corinthians 5:10 - 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.
Romans 8:1-4 - 1There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. 2For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. 3For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, 4in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
2 Corinthians 5:14-15 - 14For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died; 15and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised.
“Make disciples of Jesus that live in community for the community.”
Matthew 28:19-20 -19Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,20teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 - 14For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil.
“You have made us for Yourself and our hearts are restless until they rest in You.” — Augustine
Matthew 11:28 - 28 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Ecclesiastes 12:14 -14 For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil.
Romans 8:1 - 1 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
