Life Worth Living- Live FOR Jesus

Life Worth Living

Speaker: Pastor Ty Neal and Pastor Matt Butler
Date: January 07, 2018

Everyone wants their life to "count." We want our lives to matter. Think about it; we make lots of sacrifices to make a living, pursue that significant other, potentially have some kids and make our mark in this life. There seems to be a lot of blood, sweat, and tears involved. But how do we measure our success? How can we know that we are living a life that will make a difference? What if all the "ladder climbing" we've done in life has been pointless because our ladder has been on the wrong wall? Good news for you, there is a way you can know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that your life can have significance! You can live a life worth living! How? Join us for our new series this January - Life Worth Living.

Sermon Title: Live FOR Jesus

John 10:10 - 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.

Negative Deconstruction — reveals how the desire falls short

Positive Deconstruction — reveals the desire’s deeper longing

2 Corinthians 5:14 - 14 For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died;

Quote - The logic of love outweighs all other logic known to the human race. NT Wright

Galatians 2:20 - 20 I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

2 Corinthians 5:15 - 15 and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised.

Big Idea: We live for Jesus in every area of our lives.

Quote - “There is not a square inch in the whole domain of our human existence over which Christ, who is Sovereign over all, does not cry, Mine!” Abraham Kuyper

Quote - The opposite of love is indifference. - The Lumineers

2 Corinthians 5:16 - 16 From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer.

2 Corinthians 5:17- 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

Prayer or St. Patrick:

God guide me. May the eye of God look before me, the ear of God hear me, the word of God speak for me. May the hand of God protect me, the way of God lie before me, the shield of God defend me, the host of God save me. May Christ shield me today. Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me, Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me, Christ on my right, Christ on my left, Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit, Christ when I stand, Christ in the heart of everyone who thinks of me, Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me, Christ in every eye that sees me, Christ in every ear that hears me. Amen.

Communion (1 Corinthians 11:23-26) - 23For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, 24and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, "This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me." 25In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me." 26For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes.
