There are some dark killers out there on the prowl to destroy our lives. Now don't worry, no need to add an extra deadbolt to your door or buy a sawed-off shotgun. These killers are not on the outside but within each of us. What are they trying to kill? Joy! Honestly, they are doing a smashing job on us all! These killers go by the names: Pride, Envy, Anger, Sloth, Greed, Gluttony, and Lust. As a gang, they are known as the 7 Deadly Sins. Philippians 3:20-21 20But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself. .

1 Peter 5:6-11 6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, 7 casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. 8 Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 9Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. 10And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. 11To him be the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Matthew 6:18 18 that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

QUOTE“The question is not of earning or meriting or coercing anything from God. The question is: Having tasted the goodness of God in the gospel, how can I maximize my enjoyment of him, when every moment of my life I am tempted to make a god out of his good gifts?” John Piper

QUOTE“Fasting reveals the things that control us.” Richard Foster
