Good Friday 2018

Good Friday 2018

Speaker: Pastor Ty Neal
Date: April 01, 2018

On Good Friday, we are captivated by Jesus' suffering and death on the cross. We experience a range of emotions: sadness, reverence, astonishment, gratitude. Why? Because we understand that what Jesus endured was for us and instead of us. But Good Friday is more than merely a day of death; it is a day that transforms death. Join us on Good Friday as we remember and celebrate the cross of Christ: 3.30.18, 6:30pm.

Title :It’s Not What You Think

                                Religion

                                Institution

                                Politcal

                                Not For You

Colossians 2:8 - 8 See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.

Colossians 2:9-10 - 9For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, 10and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority.

Colossians 2:11- 11 In him also you were circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ,

Colossians 2:12 - 12 having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the powerful working of God, who raised him from the dead.

Baptism is BOTH Spiritual and Physical

                                Death to Life

Colossians 2:13 - 13 And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses,

Romans 5:12 -12 Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned—

Psalm 51:5 -  5 Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me.

                             Guilty to Innocent

Colossians 2:14 – 14 by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.

Romans 2:23 – 23 You who boast in the law dishonor God by breaking the law.

                                Defeated to Victorious

Colossians 2:15 – 15 He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him.

Colossians 2:6 - 6 Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him,

“Heavenly Father, I admit that I am weaker and more sinful than I ever before believed, but through your Son, Jesus, I can be more loved and accepted than I ever dared hope. I thank you that he lived the life I should have lived, and paid the debt and punishment I owe. Receive me now for his sake. I turn from my sins and receive him as Savior. It's in Jesus' name I pray, Amen.”

Quote -   “We can no more be a Christian and have nothing to do with the church than we can be a person and not be in a family… It is part of the fabric of redemption.” Eugene Peterson
