As soon as you hear the word "saint," I bet you begin to imagine very holy people. Perhaps they are so holy that their feet never touch the ground, right? Maybe a saint is a very religious person who has separated themselves completely from the world around them. What if the bible had something totally different in mind when it calls people saints? What if a saint is just a person who lives out everyday life, you know, real relationships, finances, jobs, emotions - the normal things of life in extraordinary ways? Curious? Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. "Honor your father and mother" (this is the first commandment with a promise), "that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land." Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
However, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.
Listen to your father who gave you life, and do not despise your mother when she is old.
Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one's youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.
