The Word - Week 5 - Peace In the Storm

The Word

Speaker: Travis Fox
Date: July 31, 2016

We speak and hear potentially thousands of words each and every day. Some are more meaningful than others. We know that some words have the power to set us free from our fears, the ability to replace lies with truth and empower us to live transformed. Now imagine the God of the universe speaking directly to you. Imagine the impact that would make on your life right now! Fortunately for us, God has spoken, and His words are recorded for us in the Bible. But God didn't stop there, he actually came and walked among us! The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. Join us this summer as we discover from God's Word that it all points to Jesus, the Living Word and the power that Word has to change our lives. The Word: July 3rd - August 7th

Peace in the Storm

Big Idea: In Christ We Are Secure

Mark 4:35-41

35 On that day, when evening had come, he said to them, "Let us go across to the other side." 36 And leaving the crowd, they took him with them in the boat, just as he was. And other boats were with him. 37 And a great windstorm arose, and the waves were breaking into the boat, so that the boat was already filling. 38 But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion. And they woke him and said to him, "Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?" 39 And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, "Peace! Be still!" And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. 40 He said to them, "Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?" 41 And they were filled with great fear and said to one another, "Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?

Ps. 107:28-30

28 Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. 29 He made the storm be still, and the waves of the sea were hushed. 30 Then they were glad that the waters were quiet, and he brought them to their desired haven.
