Manifesto (noun): a statement declaring publicly the intentions, motives, or views of its issuer.
Jesus came on a mission with a message of "Follow Me". He promises not only a new life, but a new way of living in the here and now. A life that transforms and transcends. Even so, we all have questions about the details of following him. How do I really follow Jesus everyday? How does following Jesus affect my relationships, my finances, my attitude, my fears - you know, all of life? Jesus had a lot to say in his famous Sermon on the Mount; on what it means to follow him in the here and now. Among Jesus' teaching, the Sermon on the Mount is perhaps the most beloved, the best known and the least understood. What does it mean to say "I follow Jesus?" Join us as we discover the life changing words of Jesus. January 5th - June 1st
"It was also said, 'Whoever divorces his wife, let him give her a certificate of divorce.' But I say to you that everyone who divorces his wife, except on the ground of sexual immorality, makes her commit adultery, and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.
to rule over the day and over the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening and there was morning, the fourth day. And God said, "Let the waters swarm with swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the heavens." So God created the great sea creatures and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarm, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. And God blessed them, saying, "Be fruitful and multiply and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth." And there was evening and there was morning, the fifth day. And God said, "Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kinds—livestock and creeping things and beasts of the earth according to their kinds." And it was so. And God made the beasts of the earth according to their kinds and the livestock according to their kinds, and everything that creeps on the ground according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
I establish my covenant with you, that never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters of the flood, and never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth."
Now when Jesus had finished these sayings, he went away from Galilee and entered the region of Judea beyond the Jordan. And large crowds followed him, and he healed them there. And Pharisees came up to him and tested him by asking, "Is it lawful to divorce one's wife for any cause?" He answered, "Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, 'Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh'? So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate." They said to him, "Why then did Moses command one to give a certificate of divorce and to send her away?" He said to them, "Because of your hardness of heart Moses allowed you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so. And I say to you: whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery."
And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.'
As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love.
It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed."
