Glorious Mess — Week 1

Glorious Mess

Speaker: Ty Neal
Date: January 08, 2017

The church is anything but flawless or perfect. Honestly, it is a mess at times. Yet, Jesus said he would build it, love it, sustain it, use it, and return to fully reunite with it forever. He established it for his glory and the good of the world. It's one glorious mess! Come and discover how you can join in the glorious mess we call Grace Point Church during our new series. Glorious Mess: Welcome To The Church January 8th-22nd.

TITLE: Make Disciples of Jesus

QUOTE: “When I get honest, I admit I am a bundle of paradoxes. I believe and I doubt, I hope and get discouraged, I love and I hate, I feel bad about feeling good, I feel guilty about not feeling guilty. I am trusting and suspicious. I am honest and I still play games. Aristotle said I am a rational animal; I say I am an angel with an in-credible capacity for beer.” Brennan Manning

Make disciples of Jesus that live in community for the community

Luke 6:40 - A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone when he is fully trained will be like his teacher.

Acts 17:6 - And when they could not find them, they dragged Jason and some of the brothers before the city authorities, shouting, “These men who have turned the world upside down have come here also,

Luke 9:23-And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.

Matthew 28:16-17 - Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 -Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own,for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.

Show & Tell - Matthew 28:20 - teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

QUOTE-“It wouldn’t matter if Jesus died a thousand times if no one ever heard about it.”Martin Luther

QUOTE-The Gospel spread to the known world during the first century without radio, television or the printing press, because [the writings of the apostles] produced men who were reproducing. But today we have a lot of pew-sitters— people think that if they are faithful in church attendance, put good-sized gifts into the offering plate and get people to come, they have done their part… . If I were a minister of a church and had deacons or elders to pass the plate and choir mem-bers to sing, I would say, “Thank God for your help. We need you. Praise the Lord for these extra things you do,” but I would keep pressing home the big job—” Be fruitful and multiply.” All these other things are incidental to the supreme task of winning a man or woman to Jesus Christ and then helping him or her to go on.
