What is love? Ask 100 different people and I bet you would get 100 different answers. Love is a feeling... Love is an action... Love is an experience... One fact that we would all agree on is that a life without love would seem meaningless... hopeless... depressing... futile. Does that describe your experience with love at times? Maybe we really don't fully understand what Love Is. Join us as we journey through the famous "love chapter" of the Bible, 1 Corinthians 13, and discover what Love Is.
Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;
My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments, for length of days and years of life and peace they will add to you. Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart. So you will find favor and good success in the sight of God and man.
“The greatest single cause of atheism in the world today is Christians: who acknowledge Jesus with their lips, walk out the door, and deny Him by their lifestyle. That is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable.” Brennan Manning
Trust (Proverbs 3:5)
“If God fails us, we are damned. If God comes through, we are saved forever. Real trust is that blunt and daring and simple.” Ray Ortlund
“Pseudo-faith always arranges a way out to serve in case God fails it. Real faith knows only one way and gladly allows itself to be stripped of any second way or makeshift substitutes. For true faith, it is either God or total collapse. And not since Adam stood up on the earth has God failed a single man or woman who trusted him.” A.W. Tower
Lean (Proverbs 3:5b, Jeremiah 17:9)
“Cheap grace is the grace we bestow on ourselves. Cheap grace is the preaching of forgiveness without requiring repentance, baptism without church discipline, Com-munion without confession...Cheap grace is grace without discipleship, grace without the cross, grace without Jesus Christ, living and incarnate.” Dietrich Bonhoeffer
Acknowledge (Proverbs 3:6)
Repent (Proverbs 3:7-8)
